Who took my guitar!? Belting out “Sit Down,You’re Rockin’ The Boat” from the musical GUYS AND DOLLS is what I will not be doing down at the Khun Thai restaurant & Lounge this Friday evening (not Wednesday), November 1st, from 6 - 8pm. That was way back when. I found my guitar and gained weight.

Now it’s time for acoustic guitar and vocals from such artists as Bob Dylan, Donovan, Blind Faith, Nilsson, John Prine, Paul McCartney, Kross Krostifferson, The Fureys, Doc Watson, Tom Petty, Gordon Lightfoot, Little Feat, The Animals, Simon & Garfunkel, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams, Kate & Anna McGarrigle, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Merle Haggard, Jackson C. Frank, Jerry Jeff Walker and a host more.

Enjoy a fabulously tasty Thai meal and let me set it to music for you this Friday, November 1st, from 6pm - 8pm in the comfy atmosphere of the Khun Thai Restaurant‘s back lounge, 925 Chetco Ave, Brookings, OR 97415. For more information, call (541) 412-0555.

Bruin family,
The first quarter is coming to an end this Thursday, October 31st. Students are encouraged to get any missed work turned ASAP. There will be no school for students this Friday, November 1st, so that teachers can enter 1st quarter grades in time for upcoming conferences.

We hope to see you at conferences on either Wednesday, November 6th or Thursday, November 7th from 5-8pm in the gymnasium to meet with your student‘s teachers and to pick up your student‘s progress report. This is an important time to review academic progress and help us better understand your student‘s needs.

And if you have a few minutes to stop by the school this week, we are holding Site Council elections for our two parent/guardian positions. Please request a ballot at the window to vote for two of our three candidates. We will announce the winners next week.

We look forward to seeing you next week!

ICU…BANG!

October is ober, time to render November melodies, so I’ll SEE YOU at the Khun Thai Restaurant and lounge this Wednesday, November 6th for music and fine food from 6 - 8pm…

It‘ll be post-Britain‘s Guy Fawkes Day, but…BANG anyway!

Somewhat in reverence of the explosive British holiday Guy Fawkes Day (November 5th), from 6 - 8pm I‘ll be sending some dynamite finger picking guitar and vocals your way from such firecracker Brits as Cat Stevens, Donovan, Ralph McTell, Ewan MacColl, The Rolling Stones, Thin Lizzy, The Fureys, Bert Jansch and more.

Plus, songs by American artists who did not wish to blow-up the British Houses of Parliament - like Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Little Feat, John Prine, Willie Nelson, Nilsson, Tom Paxton, Randy Newman, Gordon Lightfoot, Townes Van Zandt, Tim Hardin, Tim Rose, Buffy Sainte-Marie Paul Simon, and many more.

Guy Fawkes day always falls on November 5th in Britain. Lets have a BANG for them a day later… on the 6th!

Got a favorite artist? Ask me a question about any music luminaries from the 50‘s to the 90‘s. As a music journalist in London, I may well have met them, if not written about them way back when I had straight hair. Might even know a song by one or two of them...chances are pretty good.

I‘ll do my utmost to make it a fine evening for you on Wednesday at the Khun Thai Restaurant Lounge and bar. The Khun Thai folks will be serving exotic food that will delight you, accompanied by excellent on-tap beers and fine wines.

Enjoy a fabulously tasty Thai meal and let me set it to music for you thisWednesday, November 6th, 6 - 8pm, in the comfy atmosphere of the Khun Thai Restaurant Lounge & Bar, 925 Chetco Ave, Brookings, OR 97415. For more information, call (541) 412-0555.

We are excited to be featuring Casie Adams and her beautifully eclectic kiln-formed glass, and up-cycled surfboard resin pieces. Casie is a local maker whose inspiration comes from living alongside the ocean. She fines the sea to be the most therapeutic and nurturing place for her; the ebb and flow of energy is a daily reminder to live in balance, blissful yet mysterious- there is so much beauty and life undiscovered below the surface of the sea, as well as what lies within you and me. Casie hopes her eclectic variety of Cglass inspires you in someway; by color or contrast, detail or simplicity, may it always remind you to return to the sea and discover who you are destined to be.
We hope you‘ll come by the gallery, meet Casie and connect with one of her amazing works.

About your instructor: KARLEY PODESTA
Hi, I’m Karley! I have spent most of my life admiring the beauty and magic in the world around me. Trying to create and be a part of that magic has led me to explore multiple forms of art, including painting, drawing, sculpting, storytelling, and even baking. Sharing in that magic and inspiring others to view the world in new and brighter ways brings me immense joy; getting lost in the creative process is my happy place. I am a proud mother of two incredible daughters who give me plenty of opportunities to grow both as a person and a teacher. I moved to Brookings in 2008, and am flourishing in our gorgeous natural environment, surrounded by my family and tribe of supportive friends. I am thrilled to take this journey with you!

Bio

Soul Vibrator has been a mainstay of the Eugene, Oregon funk scene for half a decade. Formed fresh out of high school, the founding members began by jamming at local open mics to form songs and hone their skills. After spending a couple years writing and playing shows, Soul Vibrator entered the local “Eugene Weekly’s Next Big Thing” contest and won, earning time at a local studio. Between 2014-15 they recorded and released their debut album Electric Stardust. Realizing that their next record needed to be more polished and streamlined Soul Vibrator began writing and furiously playing shows at regional venues and events. Over the course of the next few years they would share the stage with Turkuaz, Monophonics, Moon Hooch, Polyrhythmics, Dirtwire (feat. members of Beats Antique), Ripe, and The Dip. In 2017 Soul Vibrator realized one of their goals by playing Main Stage at the fabled Oregon Country Fair.

Soul Vibrator keeps funk “out of the box” by incorporating soul, R&B and hip hop into their structure, as well as some aspects of more progressive music. Their self-titled album release, “Soul Vibrator”, is now out everywhere and showing the versatility they have curated. Up-tempo funk jams transition smoothly into conscious hip-hop and odd metered progressiveness broken up by infectious groove. With a constantly evolving live show, their energy continues to draw crowds and keep booties shakin’

In this seasons‘s Flute Song Collection, we‘ll get out our instruments and play along to the jazzy new original "Blue St. Pat," search the "Pawpaw Patch," and climb aboard the "Train to the City." And those are only three of the twenty-five songs you‘ll learn, which include Music Together originals and traditional songs. In addition to your weekly classes, tuition includes a new songbook with beautiful color illustrations for each song, a newsletter full of resources and music-making ideas, and online access to the music and bonus activities. In September, we‘ll be celebrating the International Day of Peace with a Music Together Around the World party—and you are invited!
